Very recently, my dear friend suffered a great loss; her son was senslessly taken. This loss affected, not only her, but her family n those of us who loved them both. During his homegoing service, we watched n listened to her rejoice n forgive the perpetrators, who took her sons life. Through the heartache n pain of her loss, she made a conscious choice n decision to forgive. The gospel of Christ frees us to forgive n gives us the promise of peace n harmony; not only with God, but with each other. Forgiveness is Christianity in motion. God forgives us freely n without reservation, when we come to Him with repentant hearts. And, if I may in todays venacular, requires us to pay it forward. (Matt. 18:23-35) It is impossible to do, outside of His love, grace n power. In Matthew 18:21, Peter asks Jesus, how often should he forgive those who sin against him? Jesus answered him n said, ...seventy times seventy. (In other words, as many times as necessary.) D. De Haan said it well: Oh, what joy and peace we forfeit, When forgiveness we withhold; Fellowship with God is broken, And the heart grows hard and cold. God said vengeance was His to recompense. Dont let unforgiveness become a root of bitterness within ur heart. Release n let it go. We are not to avenge ourselves, but overcome evil with good. Be blessed n be a blessing! Love u!
