Very sad news today as actress and presenter Lynda Bellingham, who supported Marie Curies Great Daffodil Appeal, has passed away. Lynda had been battling colon cancer since 2013, and had recently spoken about her determination to take control of the remaining time she had left so she could spend it with her family. As the leading charity caring for terminally ill people and their families we believe that it is vital to talk about facing terminal illness, and to have such a high profile figure as Lynda talk so openly about her experiences is extremely important. We want to thank Lynda for this and her support throughout the years for the Great Daffodil Appeal - she was a truly caring and loving person. Jane Collins, Chief Executive of Marie Curie, said: Our condolences to the family of Lynda Bellingham. She bravely remained in the public eye during her final weeks, sharing with us all her love of life and her courageous acceptance that she was going to die. The benefit for others going through distressing times of their own is to have that language of acceptance being used by someone in the public eye. At Marie Curie we try to enable people to lead the best life possible when they have a terminal illness. Lynda will have helped many families start that conversation.
