Islamic State militants take the life of its fourth hostage, British aid worker Alan Henning, in a chilling video led by the familiar black-robed militant dubbed as Jihadi John, now one of the most wanted men in the world. The video, titled Another Message to America and its Allies”, was very similar to the three previously released string of videos showing the beheading of the two US journalists James Foley and Steven Sotloff, and British aid worker David Haines. In the video, the British aid worker, clad in an orange jumpsuit and kneeling beside the ISIS militant, appears to be reading from a script that condemned the British parliament. Because of our parliaments decision to attack the Islamic State, I, as a member of the British public, will now pay the price for that decision, he recited. Meanwhile, the masked militant in the footage directs his speech to the European government in a voice that was seemingly distorted slightly compared to his previous appearances in the past three videos. Alan Henning will also be slaughtered, but his blood is on the hands of the British parliament,” he says. The ISIS militant also threatened to behead US aid worker Peter Kassig. Hailing from Salford, Henning was a 47-year-old taxi driver who was part of a mission in Syria to deliver medical supplies. ISIS militants stopped Henning’s convoy in December where Henning was abducted. Britain’s Prime Minister, David Cameron, sympathized with the family Henning left and decried the killing saying the act shows just how “barbaric and repulsive” the terrorists are. Alan had gone to Syria to help get aid to people of all faiths in their hour of need. We will do all we can to hunt down these murderers and bring them to justice,” Cameron said. Henning’s wife, Barbara, and the rest of their family are “numb with grief” upon the news of Alan’s murder. “It is the news we hoped we would never hear,” Barbara said in a statement. “As a family we are devastated by the news of his death. There are few words to describe how we feel at this moment. Myself, Lucy and Adam, and all of Alans family and friends are numb with grief.” Barbara described his husband as a “decent, caring” man whose interest was “in the welfare of others”. “He will be remembered for this and we as a family are extremely proud of him and what he achieved and the people he helped.”
