Very shortly, our ninth grade students will be taking the EXPLORE assessment, our tenth graders will be taking the Wisconsin Knowledge and Concepts Examination and a few other students will be taking the PSAT. All 9-12 student schedules will be affected. Please refer to the back page and note date and time changes. Test day schedules for EXPLORE and WKCE are below. The EXPLORE exam will provide a level of academic progress that aligns with the ACT. Students will be able to gain tremendous feedback about college and career readiness based on how they perform. Freshman will take this exam on October 16th. The WKCE test covers reading, writing, mathematics, social studies and science. Sophomores will take the state tests on October 29, 30, November 5, 6, and 7. Students choosing to take the PSAT will take this exam on October 16th (same day the freshman take the EXPLORE). Your child’s teachers have done an outstanding job to ensure that the knowledge and skills required for the tests have been covered in the classroom. Now, I ask your help to make sure your son/daughter is in school and on time during testing days. The regular school breakfast will be served each day with the testing times starting as listed on the back. Please talk to your son/daughter and stress the importance of doing their best on these tests. As an incentive for doing well on the WKCE test, if your child meets the eligibility criteria, you may excuse them from the second semester final exams. More information and letters will be sent after the results are received in spring.
