Very soon the citizen of Karbi Anglong shall be able to benefit from the Dream Project on the outcome of the UPDS Peace Accord MoS, sign on 25.11.2011. The proposal for taking up a Two Lane Highway Standard of connecting NH-36 (Starting point -Manja, Karbi Anglong) and NH-44 ( End point at Bhoilimbong, Meghalaya), connecting the Shillong-Jowai by-pass Highway. Earlier the same project was rejected by the NEC (DoNER) when the KAAC sent its proposal to the said institutions, citing the project does not come under the purview of NEC. The NEC replied that they could not meets the huge involvement of fund to take up the project. As annual funds allocation is only near about 200 core which is nothing compared to the cost of constructing the same road which may amount to somewhere around 2000 core for the project. The road shall benefited to the people of West Karbi Anglong by and large and people, vehicle coming from both opposite directions like Nagaland, Upper Assam going to Shillong, Meghalaya, Shilchar, Mizoram and beside many other destinations with shorter road length, saving time and fuel cost. The road will start from Manja, creat By-pass around Diphu Town, crossing four lane highway at Lumding, (Karbi Anglong) Lamsakhang, Mailoo, Khironi Chariali, Kheroni, Dongkamokam, Baithalangso, Umpanai, Umlapher, Sabuda (Assam-Meghalaya border), Mehghalaya part...Larumbai then to Bhoilimbong touching the Shillong by-pass highway. It was pursued in the last 3rd MoS review meeting by the signatories...Mr. Kang Jang Terang, MAC, KAAC and Horensing Bey, MAC, KAAC to take up the project at all cost with urgency as an agreed principle. The Nec, DoNER ministry would be given an additional funds to complete the project without any delay and is directed by the Home Ministry to move the Planning Commision for further considerations. This was conveyed to me personally by the Home Ministry Officials on the outcome of the discussion. It is expected to receive the copy of the minute of the 3rd MoS review meeting today.
