Very unhappy with Singapore airlines..... This is my email to them..... Hello we are looking to book a flight BUT we have a child with a peanut allergy, this is what I have found on your website Passengers with nut allergy Passengers who have a nut-allergy could request for nut-free special meal to be catered on his or her flight. The nut-free special meal does not contain peanuts, tree nuts - Almonds, Brazil nuts, Cashew nuts, Hazelnuts, Macadamias, Pecans, Pistachios and Walnuts, and their derivatives. We are unable to guarantee a nut-free in-flight environment. Firstly, nuts and nut-derivatives are commonly used in the preparation or manufacturing of inflight meals world-wide (except for Nut-Free Special Meal). Secondly, we are also unable to prevent passengers from bringing and consuming their own nut-products on-board our flights. Should you require a nut-free special meal, please contact your travel agent or the Singapore Airlines office to arrange for a nut-free special meal at least 48 hours before flight departure. Once again, we request that you take all necessary precautions bearing in mind the risk of exposure. If you have any concerns about your fitness to travel, we recommend that you discuss your travel plans with your doctor. Lastly, due to the heightened security environment, passengers should obtain a doctor’s certification for their medication or syringe. All medication should be professionally labelled with passenger’s name and clearly identified to eliminate any difficulties passing through security check-points. We need some things clearing up, we know you or ourselves cant stop other people bringing on nuts...... BUT we would like to know......???? 1. if we fly with you will nuts be served on our flight? Yes - Our cabin crew still serve nut snacks to all passengers. We are unable to remove these nut snacks from our flights. 2. would it be stated over the tanoy that please if you have brought nuts onto this flight can you NOT eat them as a child could DIE.....??? Unfortunately we cannot guarantee that our crew will be able to make this announcement on the day. 3. do you have an allergy sheet on the meals that are NOT nut free......as if you serve a dish that has nuts (satay for example)..? We do not have this information in our UK office, we will have to check with our head office in Singapore and get back to you on this. We are emigrating to Australia this year.... We have now ruled out a lot of airlines because of this.......
