Very very important. You must all make an effort to read this please. A few points about the Governors letter to us: 1. Regarding Asbestos: the LEA paid a huge amount of money for a lot of asbestos to be removed from the school a few years ago. A small amount was left with a very low level risk rating. The governors in charge at the time were Alan Finlay (spelling?) previous Chair of Governors before Toby Rubbra and Simon Eakins who was overseeing the Asbestos activity. I doubt very much whether the asbestos map of the school given to us this weekend is accurate. Dont forget if there is work left to be done (lets check shall we) the LEA have said very clearly that they will continue to support the school and there will be monies available for ongoing repairs and renewals. 2. How big is the new school? The EFA itself has said categorically that the new school is smaller. It doesnt matter how you rig, jig, obfuscate. Our man from the ministry confirmed last Tuesday night what I have always believed and have been told by other governors. So, for the last time, from the EFA horses mouth: Its smaller 3. The pre school has been left out of the scheme so far. Again this was a direct quote from the meeting last week. Appreciate that you are still thinking about it Governors, but then so is Moretonhampstead where the kids go to pre school in the village Hall. Block book the hall in chaggers now someone? 4. Governors: We are so surprised about the only option being that of a rebuild! Actually the governing body, or at least three members of it, have known all about the fact that a refurbishment was not an option, off the cards, no chance, nada, since late 2012. In fact, an announcement of a rebuild were made about that time by the Governors. It was in the Parish magazine. Im sure that Paul Seaton Burns would be delighted to let us have a back copy for reference as I recall he co authored the announcement with myself!
