#VeryShortStories While her maid took an off on the account of an intensive household survey being conducted by the new state, the old grandma couldnt help but curse her maid as well as the people behind the situation. She had woken up with a terrible knee pain. She struggled to get down the bed and use the washroom. To cook for herself and wash the utensils would be an impossible task. Why did they have to paralyze the state for the survey? Couldnt they do it over a period of time? Or couldnt they use better methods to do it- online forms or fetching data from Aadhar cards? They just had to think out of the box. Maybe they could use a GPS system that could detect houses which had not filled the online survey form and send volunteers to help them? Or have booths where people could submit the required data before a ceetain deadline? What was the rush to do it all in one day? She would have been more than happy to fill the forms for her maid on her sleek laptop. Grandma was very tech savvy that way. She had just finished a long Skype call with her son early in the morning. Necessity might be the mother of invention, but it was also the grandmother of technical knowledge. After her son left her for a lucrative career abroad, grandma had no option but to learn the digital way of communication. She learnt how to google and find answers to important questions which even her Lord Krishna couldnt answer. The pain in her left knee worsened. She considered calling Chandrashekhar, her loyal servant who stayed and managed her farm house, but how would the poor man travel without a bus or auto? She regretted not having learnt driving a car. Finally, after a lot of curses were uttered, Google came to her aid with a few tips to get instant relief from the pain. She followed a few of them and found mild relief. She washed the utensils, cooked some rice and lentil curry and let out her frustration through a very sarcastic tweet on the goverments inability to use modern technology for their operations.
