**Vet Corps Position Announcement at Western** The Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs proudly invites applicants to apply for a 10 month position of AmeriCorps national service with the Washington State Vet Corps program Details: -Veterans, spouses and dependents are eligible for these positions -High School diploma required, preference given to some college -Position start date is September 1st, 2014 *Alumni or current students encouraged* -Full time 40-hours per week (with some flexibility) for a total of 1,700 hours of national service at the end of 10 months -Volunteer stipend is $1,210 a month -$5,550 education benefit awarded to members upon completion of the required hours Application deadline is July 9th, 2014 The role of the Vet Corps member at any site is to assist veterans towards their goals, utilizing local referral and resources, peer contact with the veteran or veterans, and creation of a veteran community and culture at the site. The Vet Corps member will also be tasked with organizing service projects once a quarter. This is a new “mission” for a veteran interested in helping other veterans find their own personal “mission,” as well as assisting them towards a career or life path.
