Veteran Sgt KS Parameswaran Honouring the Octogenarians:15/09/2014 Everyone in the hall started looking for the Veteran, whose name was being announced by the Secretary AFA. He should normally have been sitting on the stage with all other octogenarians. But there was something different about him. Veteran Parmeswaran was seen getting up from within the hall. Yes, he was sitting among all the other Sgt rank holder Veterans. Tall, straight and confident, Veteran Parmeswaran started walking towards the stage. He was, as if, an epitome of humility but each step that he took conveyed -here was a successful man who had made it big-but his feet were firmly on the ground. Each step that he took conveyed something special. The octogenarian climbed up the stage and looked taller than his six feet frame. He had braced up as a salute to the President AFA. Veteran Parmeswaran is, in fact, an achiever par excellence. Enrolled in the IAF in 1953, Veteran Parameswaran was re-mustered to Elect trade and later converted to Elect I. On completion of 15 years regular engagement Sgt Parameswaran joined as production manager at Harper Collins Publishers in New York.He served with them for twenty years. Later he set up the export division for AH Wheeler and headed the organisation as its GM, Exports. Today, Mr Parmeswaran has his own Export House through which he exports books to various countries. There was a continued applause from the full house for this achiever as his accomplishments are out of the ordinary. Mr Parmeswaran, in his self effacing style attributes all his success to what he learnt while he was in uniform. The society does have people who are the pillars and like someone said, the line begins from whatever place such a person is found standing. The AFA wishes great health, happiness and many more fruitful years to this Veteran Octogenarian. (Repeated on Request)
