Veterans Day has weighed heavy on my mind this year, for a number - TopicsExpress

Veterans Day has weighed heavy on my mind this year, for a number of reasons, I believe. I am thankful to have a church and a church family who recognizes the contributions of our Veterans and still celebrates God and Country. As I was sitting in church this Sunday watching the pictures of our church members who served flash by on the screen, I began to cry. My sorrow was not for our sacrifice. We all chose to serve and I would bet not a single one wouldnt do it again given the same circumstances. The reason for my tears was and is for the state of our country today and what we have become in spite of the sacrifices of our brave Veterans and American Patriots. It is an empty, somewhat sickening feeling in my stomach to see what our leaders, and particularly this President, has done to this country. One thought that came to my mind over and over again is that we did not sacrifice for what this country has become but for the country we once were. We sacrificed to retain our freedoms, to protect this country and its people (all of its people) from enemies and aggressors, and to leave a country stronger and safer than ever before, to our children and grandchildren. I could go on a political rant and/or cite example after example but for those of us who are true Americans, there is no need, you are already very much aware of what I am talking about. I never dreamed that our enemy would weaken us from within and do it so easily with not much more than a whimper from its people in protest. So I am saddened this day because I see little hope for America on the horizon and an America weakened in so many ways, including its people who have lost their courage and their fight to make a difference for this country. I have asked myself over and over whether I personally have failed my country and allowed it to fall into what it has become. Could I have done more to preserve what we once had for my children and grandchildren. The answer is that while I could have and should have done more, the TRUTH is that it is only with Gods strength that this country and its people can survive and it is a country without Gods strength that will be overcome. I pray to God on this Veterans Day for His strength and wisdom. I pray for a country restored and for His protection for my children and grandchildren. Finally, as I reach what is likely the final decade of my time here on earth, I pray that He will use me until my final day to protect and restore this country but most especially to hold my children and grandchildren in his arms long after I no longer can. God PLEASE Bless America!
