Veterans Day is a day to honor those still with us, not those who have passed on. In a country as large, wealthy, and powerful as the United States, one of our single-greatest failings (as a government and a society) is the borderline abandonment of wounded/damaged veterans who return home from conflicts overseas. Talk is cheap and the need is enormous. Instead of (or in addition to) posting to Facebook today, I challenge each and every one of you to chose a veterans charity from this list and make a donation. Today. Right now. I donated to Homes for Our Troops, a Massachusetts-based charity that builds specially-adapted homes to meet the needs of severely injured veterans. To honor veterans means not forgetting about them after the fighting stops. Donate (somewhere, anywhere) today. charitynavigator.org/index.cfm?bay=content.view&cpid=531#.VGJ4WZDF-70
