Veterans Day thoughts from Mark and I: When we think of love, we think of hearts, flowers, quality time, Valentines Day; but what about the other V day? Veterans Day. What greater expression of love has been seen on this earth than the love of those men and women who have served in this countrys armed forces (and dont forget Canada) fighting for the safety of their country, fighting for the defenseless, fighting against tyranny, injustice, and evil atrocities. So is love Hearts? Yes…purple hearts for the wounded. Flowers? Yes…flowers on the graves of those killed in defense of their country. Quality time? Yes…people sacrificing YEARS of their lives away from home and family. Valentines Day? No. The greater love is celebrated today…on Veterans Day. Jesus said, Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. (John 15:13 NIV) Thanks to all the Veterans who have shown us what love looks like. Below, we honor the members of our families who served. If there are others we have left off the list, please add their names in comments so we can do a better job next year. Uncle Adrian Tuts Bergeron; US Marine Corp, WWII Cousin Kenneth Bergeron; US Army, Vietnam Cousin Paul Bergeron; US Air Force, Vietnam Uncle Harold Dutchy Walz; US Marine Corp, WWII Uncle Bernard Bernie Coogan; US Air Force, WWII/Vietnam, fighter pilot Uncle Charles Dell; US Navy, WWII Uncle Mike Dell; US Navy, WWII, submarine service, Uncle Anthony Dusty Dell; US Army, WWII, Battle of the Bulge Uncle Joe Dell; US Air Force Dad Floyd Jones, US Army, WWII, anti-aircraft gunner, the Pacific theatre Uncle Paul Bayne; US Navy, WWII Uncle Gil Healey; US Navy, WWII, Pearl Harbor
