Via- The Humane Society of Midland: **WARNING - Graphic photos below!!** Sadly tonight we must share Nitas story with you and ask for your help. Nita, a 2 year old Treeing Walker Coonhound, arrived just before closing on Thursday night after being found near Coleman. Her Veterinarian believes Nita went after a Black Bear and was attacked. We do not know if she was running stray at the time or if she was hunting with someone. Black Bears are being seen more and more in our area. As you can see, Nitas throat was sliced down to the bone and at this present time she is still at the vet and in stable condition. She has a long road to recovery. We ask you to share Nitas story and help if you can toward her medical care. At this time our veterinary bill for her is still growing in order to save her life. We also ask you to share to make dog owners aware that Bears are coming closer to our area in order to keep their dogs safe. Thank you in advance, and Nita thanks you.
