Via: Al Factorman November 4 near Los Angeles Yesterday was the best day of my life...My three very best friends, Isela Giordani, Teresa Garcia and Theresa Woo (TnT), ( who call me Charlie, because they are my angels...get it, Charlies Angels) picked me up at my apartment building and took me out for my birthday. They said we were going to Santa Barbara but then I noticed we were off the freeway and I said I recognize this area, its where Styxxx has his blues jams on Sundays at the Stovepiper. Well, I knew something was up, but they told me that were going to the Deli adjacent to the Stovepiper for lunch, before going to Santa Barbara (they said that someone had told them of the great food there and that it was just a coincidence that it was next to the Stovepiper). Well after a great lunch, Isela said let me look inside the Stovepiper, I just want to see what it looks like inside. As soon as we got inside, a band was playing and I knew the jam starts at 4:30 and it was only about 1:30...I knew something was up. The first person I saw was Elizabeth Hangan and then I looked in back of her, at the stage and saw the Happy Birthday greeting above the stage and realized we werent going to Santa Barbara at all but it was a big surprise party for my birthday. Im still in shock this morning, I cant believe all the musicians that came out to play for my birthday and those that just came to wish me a happy birthday...each band played for about 15 minutes...thank you so much Styxxx (Stephen Marshall) and Carla Walders and with the help of My Angels for coordinating this whole thing. Thanks to these awesome bands that took the time off to play, it was just unreal: Roy Quick and his new band, Elizabeth Hangan and Ron Battle, The Rebellious Blues Dogs (Mike Cortez, Leff Rogers, Tony the Teddybear, Big Mike), Malcolm Lukens, B. Rad Band, Maile, Kellys Lot (Kelly Zirbes, Perry Robertson), Maggie Mayall and her Bad Ass Blues Band, Craig Kimbrough, Tina Jackson, Oscar Jordan (Billy McDonald), Toni Dodd & Southbound Blues (Eric Davis, Ernie G, Dario, Eddie Ray Smith, Sarah Valenzuela), the Blues Ryders (Deb and Ric),Dave Melton, 2 Jews & Guy Named Moses (Jim Altman, Moses Sparks, just met the drummer, sorry I cant remember his name), Dig Lewis, Duane Waider, Mark Sells, Stanley Behrens, Romeo Maxx, The Gral Family (George, Laurie & Alex), Jerry Rosa, Mudbone Clark, Crazzy Tomes, Solomon King, the Gs Hit Squad with Styxxx and Michael Rose, Lucious, Frank Cisco Hinojosa, Kelly Chappue and Felix Flanagan and yes, even one of LAs biggest groups, the Delgado Brothers were ripping it up. Several groups were scheduled but couldnt make it: Barry Allen Honig, the Blue Baron and Rafeal...would have loved to see them. I couldnt believe it when I saw Dennis Jones and Elizabeth Quinn (wish Dennis would have played)...so many other fantastic musicians and friends showed up for the big party: Daniel Sosa, Casey Reagan, Gloria Bluesaholics Cacho, Belinda Ridenour, Evelyn Hays, Candy Lynn, Dori Rosa, Jacki Sackheim, Ralph Nazarian, Michael Gliona, Joy Neely, Gary Swan, Mo Beeks, Chuck Kavooras, Mike Cochrane, Stan Weinstock, Rosalinda Rodriguez, Stan Harrison, Danny Ritter, Satina Warner, Deborah Roldan-Dixon, and so many other awesome friends and musicians whose names I forgot to jot down. This morning I looked at the book with all the photos and greetings and I started to cry...thanks so much to everyone who made this the best day of my life, I love you all.I heard that after the party broke up, that Sugaray Rayford showed up...thats so awesome, wish we were all still there to see him. I know im leaving out a lot, but sure it will come back to me a little later.
