Via FixSanFrancisco.org URGENT ACTION ITEM: We have an incredible opportunity to influence the future of ACC after Rebecca Katzs departure! We really need your help NOW in contacting Mayor Lee, Administrator (Naomi Kelley, who supervises ACC), and all Supervisors THIS WEEKEND. Email or Call NOW. A draft of a letter is below after the email / phone numbers. We have to demand that the city: 1. Conduct a national search for the best possible new shelter director who is focused on both lifesaving and public safety. 2. Expand community support for SF/ACC by organizing a community panel of animal welfare stakeholders to meet potential candidates. PLEASE, PLEASE share with your friends who live in San Francisco. There were rumors that the SF/SPCA was going to take over ACC, so you can also ask them not to privatize ACC. CONTACT INFORMATION (and cc clerk on all emails - see below): Mayor Ed Lee: [email protected] Naomi Kelley (City Administrator): [email protected] San Francisco Supervisors: [email protected] (415) 554-7630 [email protected] (415) 554-5144 [email protected] (415) 554-7450 [email protected] (415) 554-7670 [email protected] (415) 554-7970 [email protected] (415) 554-7410 [email protected] (no phone# on website) [email protected] (415) 554-6968 [email protected] (415) 554-6516 also COPY the Clerk of the Board of Supervisor with each email you send. This will get your email on the official record: [email protected] DRAFT OF LETTER. BE SURE TO PERSONALIZE IT. Dear XXX I am a San Francisco resident (add: in District xx for your district) As you know, the San Francisco Department of Animal Care and Control (SF/ACC) is looking for a new director. This is an incredible opportunity to make SF/ACC a cornerstone shelter for San Francisco under new leadership. I want San Francisco to regain its role as a national leader in animal welfare. I strongly believe in SF/ACC’s mission of: “delivery of effective, courteous, and responsive animal care and control services to the residents of San Francisco.” In order to accomplish this mission with new leadership, we urge the City of San Francisco to: 1. Conduct a national search for the best possible new shelter director who is focused on both lifesaving and public safety. 2. Expand community support for SF/ACC by organizing a community panel of animal welfare stakeholders to meet potential candidates. I also highly discourage the privatization of SF/ACC. I would like to see a new Director at SF/ACC with the following qualities: A love of animals. A passion for saving lives. Strong focus on public safety. Hard working. Effective. Determined. Willing to take risks. Solution oriented. Accountable. Someone who demands excellence. Who leads by example. Some who can achieve a lot of things with limited resources. But more than all of that, someone who has imagination. Sincerely YOUR NAME District xx (if applicable) San Francisco Board of Supervisors sfbos.org/
