Via Jack Massey America was founded on slavery and genocide, and has continued to expand its power ever since its independence. The empire was built on the backs of exploited labor and stolen land. In contemporary times, this nation has done nothing but wage war and enforce a policy of poverty in defense of capitalism. The United States currently funds fascists in Ukraine, who wage war against anti-fascists. It props up a military regime in Egypt, whose prisons are overcrowded with political prisoners. It funds Israeli apartheid and its war on the people of Palestine. It instigates and funds conflict in Latin America which forces people to flee their homes. And after more than a decade, we continue to occupy both Afghanistan and Iraq. Our drone wars carry that conflict into other nations, like Pakistan, Somalia, and Yemen, as well in aid of allied imperialists who wage war in African nations such as Mali, Sudan, Nigeria, and the Central African Republic. At home, we see the rise of an increasingly militarized police state - the creation of domestic army. We see our prisons being filled in the pursuit of private profit due to a racist system of injustice. We see the mass detentions and deportations of migrants, who have lived on this land far longer than our nation has even existed. Perpetual war overseas is directly related to a perpetual war of repression against dissent at home. They are one in the same. Basically, there is no reason to celebrate independence and freedom and liberty while waving a flag which represents neither. These have been denied to so many over the course of this countrys history. It is high time we recognize this fact, and fight for the collective liberation of all people. We must fight against this government, tooth and nail. We can start by burning a symbol of imperialism and colonialism, right here inside the belly of the beast. Its a piece of cloth - get over it apologists!
