Via Pinoy OFW 2 Filipinas Swindled by Foreign Boyfriends By PINOY OFW on December 6, 2014 When Internet love strikes, one will do everything to prove feelings are true, even when the other has other ideas. Two Filipinas, using names “Melanie” and “Rose” to hide their true identities, learned more about love the hard way when the found out their online boyfriends turned out to be swindlers, months after they invested time and money attempting to help them come to the Philippines. “Nain-love po ako. Nakakahiya man, pero… kasi magandang magsalita po, parang talagang [he’ll] make everything possible for you,” said Rose. The lovestruck Rose admitted that she sent cash to her boyfriend after the latter claimed he was robbed during a stopover on his way to the Philippines. It was instead Rose who was robbed in broad daylight as her presumed lover repeatedly asked for more money to the point where she had to borrow cash just to accommodate his requests. The boyfriend reportedly asked Melanie to send the money to a certain Mrs. Chanjai Sutthibut in Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Harry Shoum Tenessee, a Nigerian national, was arrested in an entrapment operation set up by National Bureau of Investigation (NBI). Tenessee allegedly acted as middleman between Melanie, Rose and their boyfriends. NBI director for special investigation services Ricardo Pangan said the best defense against such attacks is vigilance. “Once na humingi ng pera, dapat magduda na,” said Pangan. pinoy-ofw/news/34020-2-filipinas-swindled-by-foreign-boyfriends.html Silver
