Via Rockjumper - Worldwide Birding Adventures - #wildbird - Found only in the highlands of New Guinea, Brehms Tiger Parrot (or Brehms Ground Parrot) is the sole surviving member of an ancient lineage of Australo-Papuan parrots that once roamed our Earth, but which – for whatever reason - have now gone the same way as dinosaurs. Usually somewhat difficult to track down in its native, rainforest habitat, the lodge feeders at certain New Guinea accommodation establishments have changed the rules, and the species is now a regular attendant at such sites, much to the joy of visiting birders and photographers. It was at one such feeder that Markus Lilje photographed this obliging bird.
