Via Tayba Foundation Amin, Ralph Brazel, after 21 years in prison, is able to step into the loving arms of his mother who never gave up hope in her son. He was given 3 life-without-the-possibility-of-parole sentences for a drug crime. She fought to help bring awareness about the impact of these Draconian laws. This story is not just about Amin and his transition, but also about his mother Esi who helped make his freedom possible. See their emotional reunion. Amin is a success not just for Tayba, but also for the potential that resides in all these brothers who are converting inside our nations prisons. Amin started as a Tayba student in prison, went on to be a Tayba instructor upon release, and is currently operating in the capacity of Office Manager with the Irvine Masjid and Seekers Guidance. Esi never gave up on her son because she new, could see, his human potential. She knew what he could accomplish if only given the chance. We must also explore ways to tap into this potential that resides in these brothers. Imagine the possibilities. How many mothers would love to see their sons come back as the role model and shining example that Amins mother saw? Help bring this about. Support Tayba. Change lives. This is why we call ourselves Transformative Education: it is education that not only transforms the individual, but at the same time, has the propensity to transform those around him - through his actions. Keep this transformation going.
