Vicarstown National School Matehy held a very successful Picnic - TopicsExpress

Vicarstown National School Matehy held a very successful Picnic and Family Fun evening at the school grounds in June, to mark the end of another eventful school year. The glorious weather added greatly to the atmosphere and all the participants made full use of the school pitch and facilities. The arrival of an Ice Cream van was a source of great joy to the children and parents alike. Everyone enjoyed their creamy treats. A series of athletic activities and matches then took place, which were very sporty and a tad competitive at times. The highlight of the sporting evening was a local derby tug-of-war, a sport long associated with the Matehy area, between the sturdiest and finest from the locality and nearby Courtbrtack. After much heaving and the odd bit of huffing, Courtbrack were declared victorious by a narrow margin. Great credit is due to the Parents Association for organising this significant end of year celebration, which started off a great summer vacation. Principal Marc Sheehan
