Vicki here...I find the hardest part about updates is knowing how to condense everything that transpires during a difficult day...like yesterday. Mark had 6-7 nurses with him off and on, in his room from 3 AM yesterday until after 8 AM. Dr. Pittman was called around 3:30 AM. Mark developed excruciating pain, like hed never known before, throughout his abdomen....caused his heart rate to go way up again, unable to breathe and was sick. Took him down to X ray, showed a blockage. Did blood work and white cells were up, developed a fever of about 101. Put in an NG Tube into his stomach and then lots of green coming through the tube...mostly bile. Lots of swelling there and tremendous pressure build up. Dr. Pittman did not want to go back in yet and do another surgery, wanting to try other measures first. Mark was pretty incoherent all day, unable to really talk. Dr. Park, an associate with Dr. Pittman, was brought on board. Ordered another X ray up in his room last night, showed NG tube was indeed in the right place. Took him off morphine and put him on another drug (5 times stronger than morphine) along with 6 hour injections of another one too...they seemed to help a lot. Getting more fluid out, fever came down and a little more coherent. Dr. Park wanted him up and taking steps twice by midnight if at all possible...Matt and I were able to do that with him...VERY slowly and stopping often. A nurse from ICU was sent down to care for him the rest of the night...so thankful for her. Matt and I left the hospital around midnight and felt assured he was resting comfortably and in good hands. I know Ive left many details out, but the important part is to let you know the nature of whats going on and how you can continue to pray specifically for Mark. Thank you so much for your love and prayers...and a special thanks to our good friend, Steve Clark Sr., who was already in Marks room sitting with him when Matt and I arrived yesterday...love you! Thank you too for your calls, messages and visits yesterday. As tiring as it was, I needed that support yesterday and God used you all as His vessel to meet our emotional needs for the day. May His blessings pour out on you all...:)
