Victoria Humane Society > > Eleven year old Nikki is STILL looking for her forever home!! She lived with a lady who has passed away and she came to us needing some serious cleaning up and health check. She has been groomed and had her health check and dental done and we have just removed a mass that was on her tail and in doing so we had to remove her tail. The mass was fine but because of its size and place it started seeping and bleeding and the vet felt we needed to remove it.......that was just done and she is recovering nicely and though she LOVES her foster family, she really would prefer to be an only dog where she gets to be the STAR! She is a lovely energetic girl and is looking for that special person to call her own! She bonds quickly and should go to a home where someone is home most of the time as she wants to be with her person. Foster parents comments: Nikki is a sweet 11 year old Shepherd X who, through no fault of her own, is needing to find a new home after her owner recently passed away. Nikki has been an only, much loved dog who was taken everywhere that her owner went. She LOVES to go in the car and happily climbs into the back seat. She LOVES to go for walks and the sight of her leash gets her excited. She starts talking when we get about a block from the park where we go for walks. She LOVES her ball and lets you know if it has rolled out of reach. She LOVES her food. It is the love of food that has her needing to go on a serious diet. Losing the weight will make such a difference to her life. She has had dental work done since she came into the care of VHS. She is sharing her foster home with 3 dogs and a crotchety old cat. Nikki gets along well with the dogs but needs to be separated for mealtime. She ignores the cat totally. I think she may have been a cat in another life, as she rubs against our legs as a cat does. She has been fine around our young grandchildren, although she can be a little intimidating because of her size and excited barking. She does bark when she greets us, to go in or out and when her food is being served. She is very good while being brushed. She has the most endearing little sing-songy/sick cow noise she makes while flopped on the floor. It makes us laugh every time! Nikki is waiting to find the right person or family that will spend their day giving her the love she so desires and deserves. Are you that person? If you are, please go to victoriahumanesociety and fill out an application!!!
