Victory Refrigeration and its jobs are gone as a result of Township declaring site an area in need of redevelopment. Now Subaru, the target of the Townships affections is gone too. The declaration exempted site, owned by Mayor Cahns big political contributors, the Brown Family, from zoning rules and made it eligible for big property tax breaks, such as the infamous Payment in Lieu of Taxes (PILOT) program give-away. Cherry Hill officials had sought to lure Subaru headquarters to a redevelopment site at the former Victory Refrigeration plant off Woodcrest Road. But state incentives were far greater at the Camden site under a 2013 law intended to bring jobs to the impoverished city. Read about story attached and comment. Is this a good use of $118 million of state tax payer subsidies, just to move the HQ 4 miles with NO NEW NET STATE JOBS? Know what our Townships spokesperson said?
