Video of New Shoes For Tom Guerin from The Cary Theater, Cary, North Carolina, 8/14/14. During the Irish Famine of the 1840s a 3 year old boy named Tom Guerin was discovered alive after having been buried for 2 days in a mass grave. He grew up to become a bard and he traveled all over the west part of County Cork telling the news of the day. He petitioned the local council for a new pair of shoes (brogues), and though it took 20 years, he eventually did get them. Special thanks to the amazing Terri Kearney of the Skibbereen Heritage Center, Skibbereen, County Cork. To anybody visiting the west part of County Cork, this place is a must see.
