Vienna, 16. Bezirk Even if you are not into techno or minimal, you will be amazed by Vienna three-piece elektro guzzi. The band (!) renounces sample-based electronic music and focusses on a line-up consisting of just drums, guitar and bass. Influenced by Detroit techno they have released three marvellous records and played all of Europes major festivals like Sónar, Mutek, Roskilde or Melt. Their latest coup Observatory (2014) takes little steps away from the pure 3-instruments-line-up and offers a more produced and versatile approach. Still, it preserves Elektro Guzzis gripping analogue-sound and head-spinning hand-made-precision. At the beautiful Café Weidinger Elektro Guzzi spoke with us about the electronic-new-music-impro-scene they stem from, about experiences on the road, about the importance of mastering your instrument and why Vienna is a perfect city to create, try out and experience new musical styles.
