View Park Parents: Dear Parents and Caregivers: We are excited to begin the spring semester next Monday, January 12th, and wanted to take some time to explain how our students’ first day of the semester will look. Students will: ▪ Arrive to school on time. ▪ Be dressed in full uniform. ▪ Report to their Advisory class. ▪ Receive their class schedule and instructions in Advisory. ▪ Remain in Advisory for 45 minutes and then go to their Period 1 class. ▪ Follow their schedule while counselors have the opportunity to address any scheduling errors. ▪ Be attentive in all classes, comply with school rules, and make it a great day. School counselors will work diligently and quickly to address all scheduling concerns. Students who submit a Student Request for Class Change MUST adhere to the class schedule they receive Monday until the school counselor has had the opportunity to review the request and determine whether the request will be approved. Approval is based on the following criteria: A. Academic misplacement: Student is placed in the wrong level of class (Honors/AP), is placed in a class without meeting the prerequisite (placed in chemistry without passing biology first), or is placed in a class he/she has already passed. B. Missing an academic class: Student is missing a core class such as English, history, math, or science. C. Missing a graduation requirement: Student is missing a course necessary to graduate this school year. Please direct any questions you might have regarding your 9th, 10th, or 11th grade student’s class schedule to Mr. Johnson at [email protected] or (323) 290-6989. Please direct any questions you might have regarding your 12th grade student’s class schedule to Mr. Maull at [email protected] or (323) 290-6989.
