Vince Williams is ready for the Mayor’s hat. As a ‘first day ready’ candidate, Williams knows what it takes and ‘gets it’ when it comes to pressing issues facing Union City. Having first being elected to the Council in 2007 and most recently serving as Mayor Pro-Tem, he has the experience necessary. “When our previous Mayor resigned, I stepped right up and got immediately to work as the Chief Elected Official” he said. “Not only have I worked as a Council member to get initiatives and items accomplished, I had the honor of overseeing the jail transaction between our city and Fulton County along with making sure that we are fiscally solvent with a 2014 balanced budget” Leadership takes courage and conviction and Williams demonstrated that by approving the city’s first tax increase in over 20 years. All knowing that he would have to face the voters. “Union City residents expect quality and value for their services and that was something we had to maintain,” he said. “However, we did make cuts and reductions in city operational expenses to share the burden. During hardtimes as families, we make tough decisions. We made tough decisions in city government.”
