Vince was truly a great player. A hero of mine in 1965, I hired him to play for an assembly at Piedmont high. He drove over in his VW bug to the East Bay from his home in Sausalito, and he played an amazing 45 minute solo set, cordially accepted my $300 check on behalf of the school, thanked me cordially and scooted away. This was prior to his Charlie Brown fame, a time when he had a local hit with cast your feet to the winds and the Orpheus album, which I wore out and had to buy a second copy. Still a matchless inspiration to musicians and will be forever, IMHO… Happy holidays, my friends. Enjoy the season :-)
