Vincent Thomas Lombardi (June 11, 1913-Sept. 3, 1970) was an imperfect human. His relationship with his son and daughter was strained until his death (although he worried privately he had failed as a parent). His relationship with his wife could at times be contentious. He had a temper. He used profanity. He would try and control what Packers news got in the newspapers. He railed at players that left the Packers for more money, yet left the Packers for a position with the Washington Redskins that gave him a share of the team ownership. Someday, a Facebook poster will broadcast all of my many flaws. :} Me, I try to remember, as Dion Dimucci would say, what he stood for and the good he tried to do for others. And that will be the subject of a later post.
