Vineland, NJ shelter - The Katniss Case: 3 cruelty case dogs in urgent need of placement! So. Jersey: Katniss, Montana, and Mayweather are 3 wonderful dogs rescued from starvation and dehydration and are in urgent need of rescue to help them recover! Contact: CCSPCA_Foster@yahoo This weekend CCSPCA cruelty agents rescued 3 pit bulls named Katniss, Montana, and Mayweather. Tragically, Katniss was adopted from our shelter in 2012 and we were horrified to find her in such awful condition. Katniss was living in a pen and the other two dogs were chained. The dogs were emaciated and dehydrated and had pressure sores. They all needed to see a vet immediately. The next day they were bathed, as they were filthy and covered in urine and feces. They now are sporting shiny, soft coats and are gaining weight and on the road to recovery. All three dogs are wonderful and we are desperately seeking placement for each of them! We have been overwhelmed with cruelty cases and our dog holding area is full- we need to get some urgent dogs out ASAP! We got them out of the cruel conditions they were living in, were working on getting justice for what was done to them, we have them on the road to recovery- we just need help with their placements! Katniss: Katniss is about 3-4 years old. She arrived at the shelter in 2012 as a stray. She became a personal favorite of mine; she had such a wonderful and loving personality and her color was striking- a silvery black that was so soft. I wouldnt have recognized her if she hadnt been identified to me upon her arrival back at the shelter after her seizure. She has a big scar across her muzzle and she is literally skin and bones. Her face has a beaten look to it. But she is just desperate for affection. Desperate for love and comfort and wants nothing more than to snuggle with trusted people all day long. She is nervous with some people; with some staff she has run to the outside of her kennel and screamed when they try to approach her. It breaks my heart to know that she has been damaged and I am determined to find a place for her where she will be safe for the rest of her days. Katniss was dog friendly in 2012 and did well on her dog meet. She seems comfortable around other dogs, but doesnt quite know what to expect from them or how to play. Katniss is already gaining weight after receiving deworming treatment and put on a careful feeding schedule. She was in the worst condition of all the dogs. Mayweather: Mayweather is only about 1 year old, but sadly he seems to be blind or severely vision impaired. His eyes show no signs of injury or cataracts -he just moves in a way that suggests he cant see. He circles in the kennel when he is called (not stressed, just not knowing where to go), he bumps into walls and people, and he hugs close to you while walking for guidance. Despite this, Mayweather has an A+ personality. He is loving with people and even tested dog social! Mayweather is all black and blind; were concerned that this will eliminate his chance to find rescue. He will make someone incredibly happy, so please consider helping Mayweather. Montana: Montana is estimated by be about 2 years old. The best way to describe him is happy-go-lucky! Despite having led a terrible life so far, everything makes Montana happy. He wants attention and play time, and lots of petting. Hes a handsome cow pittie; mostly white with black patches. Montana was very comfortable with Katniss; when introduced to another dog, he didnt react upon sight, but was a bit stiff when she tried to interact with him. It seems that he has no idea how to play. He would need proper introductions to other dogs, but please dont let this deter you. With a little bit of work our happy boy will make a perfect pet!
