Vinnie is truly unstoppable.....our little boy had major hip - TopicsExpress

Vinnie is truly unstoppable.....our little boy had major hip surgery just a couple of days ago and yet, look at him! Nothing keeps him down! As you know, Vinnie had surgery this past Monday to remove the femoral head from his left hip. Both of his hips were broken during the attack that he endured from another dog, at the hands of a heartless human. Vinnie had surgery on the right hip about four weeks ago and now the left hip. He is officially done with surgery and he must know it, because he is in great spirits and is ready to go, go, go!! Vinnie is getting around very well. Although the femoral head in the left hip was crushed, luckily it was not as bad as the right hip so he is already using it and putting weight on the leg. One thing that we were very sad to see was the scarring on Vinnies left leg. Vinnie had so many awful bite wounds when he first came to us that we concentrated on the major, life-threatening ones. We didnt realize just how many scars were left all over all his body from the teeth of the other dog. Now that Vinnies leg is shaved from the surgery, the many puncture scars are visible on that leg, and its a sad reminder of what this little boy has been through. But he sure has put that all behind him and has moved on to a safe, happy life where he is loved more than ever. Vinnie will be recovering for the next couple of weeks and once his stitches come out, we will plan to take him for a consultation with a physical therapist. He will start water therapy to strengthen his hips and we are really looking forward to getting Vinnie in some swimmies and a bath cap! Thank you all again for your thoughts and well wishes for our little guy. If you have missed any of Vinnies updates, please go to our website: ahscares.org to get caught up. Thanks and please stay tuned for more from the Invincible Vinnie! youtu.be/vQSHKZsMwPg
