Vipassana Meditation Retreat December 27, 2014 - January 1, 2015 Hotel Arcobaleno - San Mommé - Pistoia Teachers: Rev. Unapana Pemananda Thero and Rev. Dhammasiri Badalkumbure Thero Mindfulness meditation (vipassana or satipatthana) is a contemplative way, taught by the Buddha, to purify the mind from attachment, aversion and ignorance, in order to access a condition more wise, fair-minded and compassionate. The retreat is open to all those who meet the practical conditions described here: please note that all the new participants are required to take a vow of silence for the duration of the retreat, which consists of a series of meditations sessions and meditations walks , from early morning to late evening. The only exception to the rule of silence are the instructions given by the teachers, the evening talk and the individual interviews made by the teachers. The beginning of the retreat is scheduled at 20:00 of the day Saturday, December 27, 2014 and it is advisable to check in at 18:00. Participants are invited to bring along anything that may make more comfortable sitting in the meditation hall (personal pillow, blanket, stool) How to participate and registration Participation • The retreat is open to all • It is welcome the phone reservation Registration and costs of the retreat The retreat is free. The balance of the overall share of the retreat will be made on arrival. Course cost: € 150.00 Biography REV. UNAPANA PEMANANDA THERO The Rev. Unapana Pemananda is a Buddhist monk of the Theravada tradition. Born in Welimada, Sri Lanka, he resides in Milan, Italy, at the temple Dharma Nikethanaya. He is Doctor in Buddhist philosophy, graduated from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, and he is currently studying Human Rights and Multiculturalism at the Buskerud and Vestfold University College in Oslo. Biography Rev. DHAMMASIRI BADALKUMBURE THERO The Rev. Badalkumbure Dhammasiri Thero has born in Sri Lanka, the 5th May 1982. He has been ordained Theravada monk in 1996 and he has received the higher ordination in 2003. In Sri Lanka, he has resided at the Badulla Temple and in Italy he resides at the LankaramayaTemple in Milan. He graduated from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, and now he is BA degree follower in Philosophy in the University of Trento.
