Visceral Leishmaniasis is a disease caused by protozoan parasites of the Leishmania genus. he parasite migrates to the internal organs such as liver, spleen and bone marrow. Signs and symptoms include fever, weight loss, mucosal ulcers, fatigue, anemia, and substantial swelling of the liver and spleen.The gold standard for diagnosis is visualization of the amastigotes in splenic aspirate or bone marrow aspirate. Serological testing is much more frequently used in areas where leishmaniasis is endemic. Hatem Darwish
