Visit of Putin to Argentina: Argentinian police impede demonstrators against Russian presidents visit On Saturday July 13th at the initiative of the central Ukrainian community representatives, the Ukrainian community of the city of Buenos Aires and the surrounding area held a demonstration against the visit to the Argentine Republic of Russian President Vladimir Putin. The action began on May Square near the Palace Chamber of the President of Argentina Cristina Fernandez where the official meeting, which had the objective of signing an international agreement, took place. Principled Ukrainian and Argentinians opened the streets after the police had banned access in front of the presidential palace. Flags, banners, posters and songs served to let the local press know about the demonstration. The column of protestors moved towards the San Martin Square where there was a a flower-laying ceremony in front of the monument to St. Martin was to take place. A block before the square, the police again cut access to the street and forbade the continuation of the demonstration. Here, after a long discussion, the arrival of a hydrant and helicopoters, the column stopped its march and the singing of the ntaitonal anthem. Later, individual participants of the demonstration, on their own traversed the police column, having hidden their Ukrainian symbols, and gathered at the square to restart the laying of the flowers and to sing songs against the presence of the “guest. Heavy rain did not dissolve the event, which in the end, did not take place to its conclusion. Yet, surely God helped the community in Argentina to accordingly greet the Russian “guest.” Source: FB page of Tazz Danylyszyn
