Visited D today and brought him Froot Loops, bananas, sweet tea - TopicsExpress

Visited D today and brought him Froot Loops, bananas, sweet tea and pop. He is on a BIG cereal kick lately, preferring it over regular foods even, so I try to incorporate fruit ( strawberries, bananas, blueberries, etc.) into this newest habit. He calls me sometimes late at night saying he is thirsty, and wants something besides water or kool-aid, ( which is pretty much the extent of their drinks list), so I try to bring him drinks for his fridge every visit. Sometimes when we hang out, Ill play songs for him on YouTube. Today he asked if I could play Glory Glory Hallelujah by Elvis. Said it had been on his mind. He sang along a little bit, and also to All the young dudes, by Mott the Hoople. When he hears music anymore, particularly songs he himself sang, he gets extremely emotional. He cried today, and I felt so sad. I told him I was sorry, I didnt mean to make him sad. He said it wasnt me, that he relives the songs over and over in his head, but knows he has lost his voice. He said it also brings back memories of all the guys, all the fun they had, mentioning John Keener in particular today. I told him he had not lost his voice, that I still loved to hear him sing and singing along to these songs would be good exercise and strengthen his vocal chords. He sang a bit of an old song he and Roland McDonald wrote. I asked him if he would sing it for me, he said hed do anything I asked. ;) All in sll we had a good visit, and if things continue to run smoothly, I hope to bring him home for a couple of days soon.
