Visiting my mom...Jake is teaching her how to play the game Sorry!! :) Update: Yesterday, I came to visit mom and there was a lady sitting in the admissions office. (Imagine that!! I was told no one would be in until Monday) I went to moms room first, and she tells me that they came in her room in the middle of the night to evaluate her....she said they undressed me and made me expose myself and they gave me an anal test....and they made me get a tb test. I about lost it right there. I wheeled her up to the admissions office, and introduced myself and my mom to the lady behind the desk. She was a social worker. I told her EVERYTHING that had transpired during the first 24 hours of my mom arriving here. By the end of our conversation, I had the names and phone numbers of the main staff at the facility. She was horrified. All she could say was, Im sorry. Im so sorry. Within 2 hours, we were shown 2 different rooms on a different hall, and my mom chose a room and was moved there. She had all her medicine and pain pills. All her aides and nurses came in and introduced themselves and asked if we needed anything. The social worker told me that she was going to call the head of nursing for the facility, and relay what I had shared with her. Then I got a call from her at 8:30pm. She too apologized. She told me what had happened was inexcusable. She told me she could have the missing medicines within 4 hours because they could be drop shipped from Cleveland. She told me my mom would have a bath as well, as I requested. So while I am thrilled that things have improved, I cannot help but wonder what happens to people who come to these places without any family or friends checking in on them? If I had not been here, my mom would have been in a filthy room, with substandard care, and she would have been neglected. So very sad and very eye opening...
