VoIP / Data Network Technician MAJOR DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS This position will include interfacing directly with Xerox and Client Strategic Planning Team. This position will work in conjunction with the US based Data Network Engineering team as part of the daily project day to day support strategy. This position will be part of a team that will install and test a new Cisco VoIP implementation of over 20K phones. The Technician will be assigned to a team responsible for installing Cisco Call Manager, UCCX, 911 CER and the implementation and testing of the WAN, MAN and LAN facilities that will be used as the transport of this service. This position requires the candidate to live in the Southern California area and report daily to the local work site. This position will report to the Xerox Network Services VoIP or Data Engineering Manager and will be responsible for a variety of activities and strategic efforts within the overall client’s network. The candidate will interact with the customer and vendors to meet emerging business needs. The candidate will be responsible for documenting those requirements and working with the team (customer, vendors, and internal engineers) to deploy, install and test the necessary hardware infrastructure that meets the customer’s requirements and maximize availability of those systems. This candidate must bring a passion for voice / data networking strategy along with the ability to work under corporate direction for a multi layered business organization. Background: Candidate could be required to pass a very stringent 10 Year Federal background and drug test including a polygraph test with the local City Police Department and Justice Department. Education: College degree from accredited university (Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Computer Science preferred). Technical certification in Computer Science or related telecommunications field is also acceptable, and all work related experience will be considered as part of the requirement. Technical Requirements Must have hands on experience with Cisco VoIP / Data hardware. At a minimum the technician must be able to Rack/Stack setup initial configurations on switches and routers to gain access onto a network. Telephone cabling – must be certified in one of the major wiring manufactures (Certs will be verified) Fiber cabling – must have hands on experience installing / repairing fiber terminations Telephone industry standards – Must be able to identify cable by color with the ability to count up to 200 pair cables via color code. Hands on experience with Cat5 / Cat6e terminations, testing tools and installation practices Must have hands on experience with Fiber and Copper TDM testing units VoIP Network implementation experience – 5+ years minimum Data Network implementation experience – 3+ years minimum Knowledge of data networking including TCIP, UDP, RTP EIGRP, OSPF protocols.
