Vocational training a key to fighting the poverty cycle National Area-Based Development Programme (NABDP/MRRD)organized a six month vocational training in ZafranVillage,Qaiser district of Faryab province with the total cost of $ 29,385 USD allocated budged which was funded by Government of Japan. The six month vocational training has trained 30 womenand created 940 labor days with 3,526 beneficiaries. The Zafran village is located far away from the center of Faryab, Maimana center, the residents of this village have plenty of problems like, damage roads, deficiency of training facilities, unemployment and less participation of femalesin administration and developmental sectors and mainly people are suffering from low economical situation which creates them lot of problems. District Development Assembly (DDA) of Qaiser district have shared these problems with Provincial Rural Rehabilitation Directorate (PRRD) of Faryab province,and in the results NABDP/MRRD contracted and stared the project of vocational training of carpet waving with DDA for six months. An Afghan Carpet is a type of hand woven floor-covering textile traditionally made in Afghanistan.And a large number of Afghans are busy in Carpet or rug waving and production. The Qaiser district, DDA assigned one female trainer to train that 30 women trainee in the vocational training, it has to be mentioned that, the trainees were from those family whose family economical conditions were so low and were really needy people. During these six months’ time, the students produced 8 carpets, which cost is so high (around 35000 Afs each) and now as the project has successfully completed, the graduates are able to weave the carpet by themselves and by themselves will be the money earners and family supporters. Miss,Nooria, A participantof the Vocational Training said that“ before my living and economical situation was so weak and I don’t had any proper and regular job to do, means, sometimes I was washing our neighbor clothes and other days I was working as a servant in some wedding parties, I could not find enough money for my family expenses, my husband died many years ago and I do not have young son to work and support us so I am the only supporter and worker for my family but now I am very happy, that I learnt weaving carpet and each month I can get enough income for my family expenses.”
