Volunteer Recruitment...based on the Bible (Some people think I get paid to recruit, but I dont) My high school history teacher, Mr. Leo D. Reed, brought four of us from Marks, Mississippi to Jackson State to take the ACT the day President Obama was born in 1961. I was so impressed I vowed to spend my life here and to bring family, neighbors, friends, their children, and their childrens children to this wondrous place where one can pursue self-betterment. Since 1967, I have recruited annually an estimated 200 students or over 10, 000 students in 47 years without student recruitment being part of my job description. I recruit students to help students not the University! If education is the key for upward mobility, I want everybody, especially in the Mississippi Delta, to have that key. Jackson State University is strategically located and positioned to generate more keys than any other institution of higher learning. Plus, I am here committed to use my monies, my mind, and my influence to help students. Therefore, I feel really, really feel comfortable in inviting students to seek their keys to success here at JSU. In the words of Jesus, not to be sacrilegious, so that where I am there you may also be.
