Volunteered for Bruce Braley @ IMU yesterday. It was a great experience. And Michelle Obama- I have to give it to her, shes a good public speaker. On an aside, have you voted yet? It doesnt matter who you vote for, as long as you vote. I wont be able to vote in this election, but Im asking all my friends who are citizens and have the luxury of voting to please take just a little bit of time to throw in your vote for the Congressional elections. Why, you ask? My vote doesnt matter anyway! To that I want to say: people certainly have the right to abstain from voting, but think of it this way: there are regions in the world where citizens have no say AT ALL about who speaks for them in government. If the right to vote was taken away from you, wouldnt you, as a US citizen, be concerned and upset? All of a sudden, you may decide that its tyrannical and people will realize theyre being exploited to a greater extent. Thats when the value of voting may set in, but do you really want to wait until its past doom-day to mourn the right to vote? Theres a saying that goes something like a finger or a palm may be strong but a closed fist packs a punch, even if youre a tiny person. An attempted punch could be the difference between being able to get away from an attacker, or having worse things done to you. Yes, our government has issues. But believe you me, there are countries where there are NO checks and balances. At least in this country, when a Congressman does get caught being shady, their careers are over. After that rant, I just want to say to the ones who have the right to vote: JUST GO VOTE. PLEASE. PRETTY PLEASE WITH A CHERRY ON TOP OF ICE CREAM AND SPRINKLES (SUGAR FREE FOR THOSE WHO CANT DO SUGAR)! Plus, you may meet likeminded people if you end up being in line. Possible friend/love connection waiting to happen!
