Volunteered to teach a STEM class to some fifth graders at a nearby school (with Melvin Raymond and Pam Lam). Our activity was to build a ramp out of paper and masking tape, and roll a marble to an exact point on a mat (with points decreasing on either side of the mark). The class, divided into 6 groups, did 2 passes -- the first to design an initial version, and the second, to learn from the first pass and refine the design. The kids enjoyed the competition, and at the end, I asked them a bunch of questions about how they solved the problem, and I said You are all now engineers. Welcome to the club! Keep solving problems and building stuff. and I swear some of them just beamed. Thanks Vernier Software & Technology!
