Volunteers Gina Montes and Jackson Blanks in Ghana Pando at the orphanage teaching and awareness program Gina: The Orphanage I am currently interested in volunteering for is the listed for Ghana. I love working with children and as a current human service worker I see how growing up in such environments without the love and care of family can drastically affect ones mental health. Id like to assist the best I can and give my time and compassion to the less fortunate. Jackson: Ghanas plans for development and transformation into a newly industrialised nation is something I find inspiring. Ghana Vision 2020, the program to establish Ghana as the first developed country in Africa between the years 2020 and 2029, aims to make Ghana a role model for Africa. The youth demographic, being crucial not only to the the social but economic climate of a nation, will have an incredibly important role in accomplishing the vision of Ghanaian development. The emerging youth of the counrtry then, when the goals and prgressiosn of the country will be at its most sensitive stage, will be a demographic that will include the children in the orphanages now.
