Volunteers gather today for ‘Street by Street’ clean up Times Herald staff report More than two dozen people plan to roll up their sleeves today to beautify a portion of Valle Vista Avenue. From 8 to 11 a.m., the volunteers will pick up trash and plant drought-resistant flowers and herbs as a part of a new project “Improving Vallejo - Street by Street.” The street in focus today will be Valle Vista Avenue between Sonoma Boulevard and Couch Street. The project is an effort by Kay Flavell, of New Pacific Studio, Vallejo Together, Loma Vista Farm, and other Vallejoans. Volunteers from the Vallejo High School LEO Club will also be present. Volunteers who have gardening tools are asked to bring them, but gloves and trash bags will be supplied. “Rita LeRoy (of Loma Vista Farm) is very enthusiastic about taking the street and making it a ‘Polinator Pathway,’” Flavell said. The seeds today are provided by the farm, though more flower seeds are needed. Volunteers and donations of flower bed materials, soil, flower seeds and trash bags, are welcome today. Refreshment and snacks will be provided. Cars can be parked at 285 Couch St., and group coordinators will sign off community service hours for a minimum of three hours of work.
