Volvarina mexicana Jousseaume, 1875 - Cayos Conchinos, Honduras; found intertidally in sand. 7mm. Josseaumes original description mentions an opaque white shell with four faint transverse yellow bands that almost blend in with the background color. The Holotype in the Museum National DHistoire Naturelle (MNHN) is a specimen seemingly without bands at all, though the bands may have faded almost 140 years later. Most recent specimens I have seen always have prominent orange bands. Found along the Caribbean coast of Mexico down to Central America. Photo: Richard L. Goldberg © 2014.
