Voter registration: May be done at the County Clerks Office at the Courthouse in Girard for Crawford County, most city halls and public offices excluding the post office. The last day to register this year is Tuesday, October 14. Various organizations sponsor voter registration drives like WAVE (Womens Alliance for Voter Education), civic groups and political groups. It may also be done online through the county website or the Secretary of States office. There are several new requirements for people registering in Kansas for the first time and that information is generally available from wherever the registration is done. Registration forms and information are available from canvassers for Democratic candidates as well as Advanced Ballot & Permanent Advanced Ballot applications. You must have an ID number to register. The Democratic Headquarters at 606A N Broadway has forms and information concerning what is needed. You may register there regardless of party affiliation. Hours are 11-5 most weekdays, late hours on Thursday until 8:00. Saturdays 11:00 to 2:00. Watch for additional places to register in the coming weeks.
