Voting for Liberias Special Senatorial elections started today - TopicsExpress

Voting for Liberias Special Senatorial elections started today across the 15 political sub-divisions of the country in a generally peaceful atmosphere. Election monitors from the Liberia Media Center, with support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and in partnership with the International Research Exchanges Board (IREX), will continue to provide up-to-the-minute updates about the process. Some key issues evolving from the LMC observation include late arrival of poll workers, non-compliance with EVD protocol (i.e. voters must stand at least 3 feet apart in the queue) and the absence of thermometers at most polling centers. The process, however, continues calmly without any flareup of violence. In the photos below are voters queuing at the GW Gibson polling center; a NEC poll worker at GW Gibson, and opening of polling at Cemenco polling center on Somalia Drive.
