Voting to be made compulsory by Gujarat Government:Forced Domocracy The perfect example of OXYMORON...... I think the current ruling dispensation must be thinking that since majority population is of a certain religion, they would naturally vote for a party of specific ideology. But for this to happen, these majority must be convinced that it is in their benefit to vote en-block for protector of THE ideology and their faith. Now for this to happen, Majority must perceive some common enemy or they must feel perpetual sense of persecution and here is the danger. Vested interests must then always strive to create real or imaginary enemy....... Secondly, in many cases villages en-block boycott election as a token of protest against inefficiency or corruption of local governing bodies. Will administration put entire village population behind bars? Going by similar logic of mandatory voting, law has to be enacted at national level. In that case each home must be converted into potential jail, in case one member from each family decides not to vote or fails to vote on some or other account.....
