W£e reached the outskirts of Omsk in the late afternoon and thought that it would be policy to stay out of sight until it got dark, as soon as darkness fell we took the troika into the station car park and fitted the horses with their nose bags, we were sorry to leave them as they had been such good friends to us. We ended up in the goods yard and a container was being loaded from a rail wagon ion to a truck, most of the writing was cyrillic but the destination was plain Kuibyshev, looked in my pocket atlas and found it was to the west.
