#WA #Bushfire #Emergency #DFES #CTCorp 5:55 PM Bushfire EMERGENCY WARNING for parts of Bullsbrook in the City of Swan Sunday 11 January 2015 - 5:55 PM A bushfire EMERGENCY WARNING has been issued for people in parts of Bullsbrook in the City of Swan, near the following roads: Asher Road Della North Road Gallagher Road Old West Road Pine Road Bingham Road Kirby Road Gaston Road Morley Road West Road Strachan Road Seismic Road Wandoo Road, south of Mallee Road Mallee Road Higgins Road You are in danger and need to act immediately to survive. There is a threat to lives and homes. The alert level for this area remains as the fire has broken containment lines near Seismic Road. Firefighters are currently strengthening containment lines to protect properties near Seismic Road. The fire started between Railway Road and Gully Road. It is burning towards Muchea in the Shire of Chittering. BUSHFIRE BEHAVIOUR: The bushfire is moving slowly in a northerly direction. It is out of control and unpredictable. Burning embers are likely to be blown around your home. Firefighters are expecting a wind to shift to move the fire in a north easterly direction. WHAT TO DO: If the way is clear, leave now for a safer place. Do not wait and see, leaving at the last minute is deadly. There is ember attack ahead of the fire, so close all doors and windows, and turn off evaporative air conditioners, but keep water running through the system if possible. If your plan is to stay and actively defend, do not rely on mains water pressure as it may be affected. If you have access to a water tank and plan to defend your home, start patrolling with your hose and put out spot fires. If you cannot leave, you need to get ready to shelter in your home and actively defend it. If you are not at home, it is too dangerous now to return. SAFER PLACE: Your safest option may be to visit family or friends who live away from the area. An evacuation centre has been set up at Gumblossom Community Centre on Tapping Way, Quinns Rock. The evacuation centre that was at Wanneroo Recreation Centre has now been closed. SAFEST ROUTE: It is safest to leave in a southern direction on Great Northern Highway. ALERT LEVEL: A bushfire WATCH AND ACT remains for people in parts of Bullsbrook and surrounding areas in the City of Swan, City of Wanneroo and Shire of Chittering. A Watch and Act remains for people in an area bounded by Wanneroo Road, Clover Road, Airfield Drive, Brand Highway, Great Northern Highway, Stock Road, Cooper Road, Neaves Road and Joondalup Drive, in the City of Swan, City of Wanneroo and Shire of Chittering. There is a possible threat to lives and homes as a fire is in the area and conditions are changing. · You need to leave or get ready to actively defend. WHAT TO DO: If you are not prepared or you plan to leave, leave now if the way is clear. There is ember attack ahead of the fire, so close all doors and windows, and turn off evaporative air conditioners, but keep water running through the system if possible. If you are well prepared and plan to actively defend your home, make final preparations now Do not rely on mains water pressure as it may be affected. ALERT LEVEL: A bushfire ADVICE has been issued for people in suburban areas west of Wanneroo Road, between Yanchep Beach Road and Burns Beach Road, in the City of Joondalup and City of Wanneroo. · Although there is no immediate danger for people in these areas you need to be aware and keep up to date. WHAT TO DO: · Stay alert and monitor your surroundings. · Watch for signs of a bushfire, especially smoke and flames. · Read through your bushfire survival plan. · If you do not have a plan decide what you will do if the situation gets worse. ROAD CLOSURES: Avoid the area and be aware of fire and other emergency services personnel working on site. A number of roads have been closed including: · Neaves Road between Old Yanchep Road and Railway Parade · Railway Parade between Rutland Road and Warbrook Road · Flynn Drive · Nowergup Road · Karoborup Road · Wanneroo Road is closed between Old Yanchep Road and Flynn Drive, however is now open to local traffic Road information may also be available from Main Roads WA by calling 138 138 or visiting mainroads.wa.gov.au POWER: Western Power has advised that the bushfire has affected the electricity supply for approximately 150 customers in the City of Swan and City of Wanneroo. The most affected areas are Bullsbrook, Pinjar and Neerabup. For further details visit westernpower.au WHAT FIREFIGHTERS ARE DOING: · Firefighters are working to construct and strengthen containment lines on the northern flank, to protect properties near Seismic Road. · Firefighters have saved more than 100 homes in the area. · More than 300 career and volunteer Fire and Rescue Service, Bush Fire Service, Volunteer Fire Service and Department of Parks and Wildlife firefighters, as well as State Emergency Service personnel are on the scene. · Aerial support is assisting ground crews. · Taskforces from throughout the State have been sent to assist crews in the metropolitan area from the South-West, Lower South-West, Midwest Gascoyne, and Goldfields-Midlands regions. · Several strike teams from the South West assembled bythe Department of Parks and Wildlife arrived in the morning, along with additional incident management personnel. EXTRA INFORMATION: · The fire was reported at 9.23am on Saturday 10 January and currently there has been 6650 hectares burnt. · Telephone text and voice messages have been issued. · The cause of the fire is unknown. · DFES is managing the fire.
